This wisdom wasn't preserved in books but in daily life: in kitchens and gardens, in whispered teachings and embodied knowing, passed from mother to daughter, Savta/grandmother to granddaughter across generations. It speaks to the sacred in the ordinary and the extraordinary in the everyday.
You are invited to dip into a unique mystical lineage, safeguarded and transmitted for millennia by Jewish women.
While guardianship of this wisdom has been historically Jewish and female, today we welcome seekers of all genders and faith backgrounds. Each voice adds new understanding; each perspective illuminates emergent facets of truth. Together, we continue a living conversation that brings this wisdom forward into perpetual relevance.
Within this stream flows the earth-wisdom of ancient Canaan, the cosmic revelations of Lurianic Kabbalah, and the transformative insights of Chassidic masters—all witnessed and interpreted through the feminine lens. Formerly known as Secrets My Grandmother Told Me, Wisdom School is a continuation of the same transmission, as it continues to flow through time and teachers.

For the first time ever, Savta’s wisdom will be transmitted to three regional cohorts at once!
Three locations, one powerful journey of becoming!
The beauty of this wisdom is that it expresses itself uniquely through each person who has received it. Each cohort will be expertly facilitated by a pair of Yor’shot/Lineage Holders who have been hand-picked by Reb Nadya for their teaching acumen and articulated expression of Savta’s wisdom. Each day, Reb Nadya herself will share a transmission of the wisdom in synchronous video conference sessions. The rest of the retreat, and subsequent virtual sessions, will be held by your Yor’shot guides.

The Chapel at National Park Seminary
Silver Spring, Maryland
-
We are delighted that The Chapel at National Park Seminary is our base for the work we will be doing at the Wisdom School Initiation. The Chapel has a long and varied history, just one of the many reasons we think it is so ideal for our purposes. It was built in 1894 as part of what was originally a summer resort hotel for Washingtonians wanting to escape the heat and humidity of Washington’s typically hot and humid summers. Thereafter the complex was a finishing school for girls, a medical facility for disabled soldiers as an annex of Walter Reed Army Hospital, and finally, in 2004, a residential neighborhood when the historic buildings were converted to apartments and homes. The grounds are spacious, open and serene, and the landscaping is lovely.
The Chapel itself is stunning. The ceilings soar and the tall walls are covered in historic and magnificent stained-glass windows. In good weather, the sun shining in through the windows joyful. The space is bright, warm and open, and immediately lends itself to the spiritual nature of our work. There is a hushed sense in the Chapel, and simultaneously, one is drawn to joyfully chant and dance there as well. The ambience is inviting and cozy, and we expect that will put everyone at ease upon entering.
There is plenty of room for us to spread out and be comfortable. There is ample free parking available on the grounds. Our good fortune in convening our sessions here is truly a blessing.

There are inviting spiritual books and artwork honoring multiple traditions throughout.
FAQs
-
An important element of this wisdom tradition honors the full spectrum of human experience and expression. As such, all who feel called to this program are welcomed.
-
All our virtual gatherings are recorded and then shared with every member of the Circle, and Wisdom School faculty. This makes it possible for one to catch up on what they missed, and also revisit the teachings over time. We encourage you to add all scheduled meeting times to your calendar and make best efforts to be present in real time, which is always more meaningful. Recordings may not always include personal sharing, and breakout groups are never recorded.
-
There are practices to engage with and you are expected to meet with your spirit buddy/chevruta at least once each month to witness and be witnessed in the work that is being modeled and assigned.
-
Most important, bring yourself and your curiosity. Instructions for specific preparation will be shared with you beforehand, but always:
Set up a quiet, sacred place for the Zoom call portion of the program. Remove any distractions from the space, and be sure you won’t be disturbed during the gathering.
Water
A journal you will use exclusively for Wisdom School, and two pens.
For each session, bring the Binder that contains the Chants and resources, which you will receive at the first retreat.
-

Yes, we expect all students in Wisdom School to complete the Tree of Life course – either live or self-paced – before starting the Embodying module. The attributes and relationships on the Tree of Life are central to this work. The course serves as introduction for those who have not previously encountered the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, as well as a reframe for those who have—as this wisdom tradition has its own unique understanding of the Tree and our relationship to it.
-
The Tree of Life course is open to anyone who wishes to study it, whether they participate in Wisdom School or not. Only registration is required.
The Wisdom School Unveiling is also open to all who wish to know more about this wisdom tradition and can make a commitment to attend the initial retreat and four follow up Zoom sessions. Only registration is required.
The Wisdom School Embodying requires some further discernment, as it is a full commitment to an 18-month program of spiritual and community formation. The application process is designed to assist in that discernment process.
